The Ministry of Health (MINSA) is promoting health, self-care, and safe nutrition during festivities to prevent diseases and infections. Under the direction of Dr. Algis Torres, the team distributed the famous 'Carnival Kits', which include sunscreen, condoms, reusable cups, a phone case, a water bottle, alcohol gel, and educational material with self-care messages. Additionally, they offered free HIV tests to attendees. Torres highlighted that MINSA is prepared to guarantee people's health during the festivities, with inspection and enforcement operations throughout the district. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining health surveillance during the event, protecting public health, and promoting self-care for everyone enjoying the Rumba Wawancó 2026 carnival. Authorities also emphasized that water must come from points authorized by MiAmbiente. Oris Iglesias, Director of Health Promotion, insisted on self-care: washing hands, hydrating with water, protecting the skin, and using condoms in case of sexual relations. Controls will be intensified at food stalls, checking that handlers have up-to-date health cards. Only vehicles transporting drinking water and not having carried chemicals or hydrocarbons will receive the 'APPROVED' sticker.
