New Cold Front to Bring Heavy Rains to Panama

The sky will offer no respite in these regions. There is another detail that is of concern. The ground is already saturated by previous rains. This increases the risk of landslides and flooding in vulnerable areas. Authorities ask to be attentive to official announcements and not to let their guard down. The National System for Civil Protection (Sinaproc) reiterated that the population must follow official accounts to track the system's movement. Panamanians have felt the downpours in recent days, and according to the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (Imhpa), what is coming could be stronger. The arrival of a new cold front is expected, which would be generating significant rains in several regions of the country. Meteorologist María Cosme explained that the system would be entering or approaching tomorrow in the afternoon. It would be located over Costa Rica, the western Caribbean and towards the Atlantic. This movement will cause more rain due to the wind effect, especially in specific areas of the territory. The areas with the highest probability of heavy showers are the Caribbean slope, the highlands of Chiriquí, the north of Coclé, Panama, West Panama, sectors of Darién and the Emberá Wounaan comarca. Significant impacts are also forecast for Bocas del Toro, the Ngäbe-Buglé comarca and the north of Veraguas. In case of any emergency, the lines 520-4429 and 911 are enabled. The recommendation is to secure loose objects, avoid areas prone to landslides and drive carefully due to low visibility. This phenomenon is part of the climatic patterns of the season affecting the western Caribbean. Monitoring remains active to issue timely alerts and reduce risks. The situation is not improving.
