The Ministry of Health (Minsa) of Panama announced that starting this Wednesday, April 8, the first batch of 384,000 doses of the influenza vaccine will be available in all health facilities. The vaccines can be obtained at the Ministry of Health (Minsa) clinics, the Social Security Fund (CSS), and private hospitals. According to the entity, Panama has acquired a total of 1.2 million doses of the influenza vaccine. The ministry highlighted that in the coming days, the remaining three batches will arrive, which will complete the purchase made by the country to immunize the population. Minsa urged the population to go to all health facilities to get the influenza vaccine. According to the report issued by the Department of Epidemiology, 31 deaths from influenza were registered, where most of the deceased were not vaccinated. The coordinator of the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI), Itzel de Hewitt, explained that since Holy Thursday, the distribution of vaccines in hard-to-reach areas has begun, and yesterday they were delivered to the regions of Herrera, Los Santos, Coclé, the metropolitan area, and San Miguelito.
