The hearing on Wednesday once again placed the Institute for the Training and Use of Human Resources (Ifarhu) at the center of a scandal, after three students appeared in court as part of the process examining the granting of certain financial aids.
During the session, the court heard the presentations of the Public Ministry and the defense arguments of the young people linked to this chapter of the case. The judge made the corresponding decisions for this procedural stage, leaving the file active as the proceedings advance.
The Ifarhu scandal broke out after it was revealed that financial aids had been granted to people who did not meet the program's criteria, which opened a high-profile investigation.
The process gained momentum when authorities ordered the arrest of the then director of Ifarhu, Bernardo Meneses, as part of the investigations aimed at determining responsibilities in the irregular allocation of funds.
Since then, the case has generated a constant flow of summons, charges, and hearings, while the prosecutor's office reviews each file granted under the questioned financial aid scheme.
Today's hearing, with three students before the court, adds to the line of actions that keep Ifarhu under public and judicial scrutiny.
During the judicial proceedings, the three students were charged with corruption of public officials and aggravated embezzlement.
Each new proceeding confirms that the investigation continues to expand and that there is still a long way to go.
