US Ambassador in Panama Calls Annette Planells an Extortionist

The US Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera, called Annette Planells an extortionist and stated that they will work to strip her of her anti-corruption award. Former deputy Katleen Levy confirmed this week that she held talks with the former president of La Prensa, Annette Planells. She stated that Planells manipulates, pressures, and destroys reputations for her own benefit. Levy also revealed that when she refused to participate in Planells' 'game', Planells turned to support her opponent. Planells, a 'fervent' defender of freedom of expression, has now closed the comments in her statement, which Levy questioned. The ambassador also advised Planells to remove from her social media the post about the award she received in 2023. According to the ambassador, this failure in the policy of the Biden era only served to discredit the mission of the award. The former deputy also referred to the seriousness of carrying out an alleged act of extortion.
