In an operation carried out at a Caribbean port terminal in the province of Colón, units of the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) delivered a new blow to international drug trafficking. Over 3 tons of a presumed illicit substance were seized from a container transiting through Panama en route to Europe, using the maritime route as a cover. The operation was made possible by the diligence of the Port Intelligence Section, which detected irregularities during the profiling of containers aboard a merchant vessel. Something was off: the container's security seal showed anomalies, a signal that raised the alarms. Upon opening the container, the discovery was conclusive. Inside, there were 77 sacks containing 3,205 packages of a presumed illicit substance, yet to be identified. The shipment had departed from Puerto Bolívar, Ecuador, passed through Antwerp, Belgium, and had its final destination in Helsingborg, Sweden, confirming the transnational reach of these criminal networks. The search and seizure operation was carried out in coordination and under the instructions of the Colón Drug Prosecutor's Office, complying with established legal and security protocols. This seizure is not an isolated incident. So far this year, Senan has managed to seize 59,486 packages of illicit substances through 126 operations conducted nationwide.
