Panama's Cabinet Approves Helicopter Purchase for SENAN

The Council of Ministers of Panama approved the purchase of a helicopter for the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN), valued at 10 million, 197 thousand, 440 balboas. A resolution was approved that authorizes, through an exceptional procedure, the contracting between the Ministry of Public Security and the company Agusta Westland Philadelphia Corporation (AWPC) for the supply of a multi-purpose AW169 model helicopter. According to the authorities, SENAN has seen its operational capabilities reduced, especially in its air fleet, which is key for security, humanitarian aid, and social support missions, especially in hard-to-reach communities. As presented to the Council of Ministers, the helicopter offers greater fuel efficiency, lower maintenance costs, and optimal performance in both visual and instrumental flight. This new aircraft, equipped with the latest technology avionics and Pratt & Whitney PW210A engines, will allow the country to strengthen its immediate response capability. According to the authorities, these air assets will enable urgent medical evacuations, rescues in remote areas, and rapid response to natural disasters when time and geography are against them.
