The National Government, led by President José Raúl Mulino, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting employment in the port terminals of Panama and Colón. The presence of authorities at the port facilities reinforces the message that the State will act as a guarantor at every stage of this orderly process. Through the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel), the authorities are actively monitoring the current transition process in these terminals, ensuring that the change takes place under principles of transparency and strict respect for current labor laws. The Panamanian president sent a message of tranquility to the workforce of the logistics sector, emphasizing that human capital is the main asset of port operations. The head of the labor portfolio is also scheduled to travel to the facilities in Colón to first-hand supervise that the regulations contained in the Labor Code are being met. This supervision strategy is not isolated, as it is part of an articulated plan that involves various State entities: • Presidency of the Republic: Political leadership and guidelines. • Maritime Authority of Panama (AMP): Technical sector management. • Ministry of Labor (Mitradel): Monitoring of labor rights. • Ministry of Security (Minseg): Safeguarding order and confidence in the process. This institutional articulation aims to demonstrate that the country's competitiveness and economic development are compatible with the protection of decent employment. During his speech, President Mulino was categorical in stating that employment sources are fully guaranteed and ruled out the possibility of layoffs. «There will be no layoffs,» affirmed the head of the Executive, seeking to bring calm to the workers and their respective family nuclei. This government backing seeks to maintain operational continuity and social peace in one of the most important pillars of the national economy, ensuring that the acquired rights of workers are not affected by the transition administrative processes. To materialize this accompaniment, the Minister of Labor and Labor Development, Jackeline Muñoz de Cedeño, made on-site visits from the early hours in the port of Balboa.
