The vessel was intercepted by units of the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN), which managed to neutralize the attempt to transport the illicit cargo before it reached its destination. The Public Ministry confirmed the seizure through its official account on social network X, detailing that the bundles contained 3,029 packages of alleged illicit substance, each with an approximate weight of one kilogram. To date, the authorities have not specified the nationality of the detainees or the exact type of drug seized.
🚤 One of the largest seizures of the year This operation ranks among the largest drug seizures in Panama so far in 2026, surpassed only by the seizure of 5,356 packages carried out on January 17, when SENAN intercepted another vessel in the waters of the Las Perlas archipelago in the Pacific Ocean. Authorities reiterated that maritime operations remain active on both coasts of the country as part of the strategy to curb international drug trafficking that uses Panamanian coasts as a route.
