The system continues to grow and expand into areas where access to justice was previously difficult. Furthermore, the Ministry of Government (Mingob) is promoting the opening of new Houses of Peace in locations such as Aguadulce – Pueblos Unidos, El Chorrillo, Río Abajo, and Pedregal, as well as in the provinces of Veraguas, Coclé, and Los Santos, aiming to fill gaps where people demand quick solutions. One of the major announcements was the inauguration of the Don Bosco Community Court, presented as the 'model house'. Peace and Community Justice is taking shape in the country. This was explained by the Minister of Government, Dinoska Montalvo, during the Council of Cabinet, where she presented a direct overview of how this system is advancing, seeking to resolve conflicts before they escalate and maintain community harmony. Today, Panama has around 487 Houses of Peace, spaces where people resolve neighborhood disputes without having to set foot in a traditional courthouse. 'Don Bosco is just the first step of what's to come,' Montalvo emphasized. 'We are looking for infrastructure and technology for a real transformation of Community Peace Justice. We want the user to have a more formal and efficient experience. We want traceability, so that fees for certifications or fines can be monitored with precision,' she stated, noting that control and transparency are key. The coverage is extensive and reaches almost the entire map. There are 76 Houses of Peace in Veraguas, 85 in Chiriquí, 70 in the Ngäbe Buglé comarca, 43 in Panama, 41 in Colón, and 36 in West Panama, among other provinces and comarcas. The focus here is on digital files, technology, and better service, with the idea of replicating this model throughout the country. According to Montalvo, Mingob, along with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and the Secretariat of Goals, is fully immersed in unblocking operational issues, especially in activating physical structures and complying with the law during the first half of 2026. The minister was clear: it's not just about opening offices.
