During a routine patrol on Ahmad Waked Avenue in the city of Colón, inspectors from the Customs Prevention and Control Directorate (D.P.F.A.) detected a private vehicle transporting merchandise without the corresponding documentation. According to the report, as they approached the vehicle, they observed that it contained several boxes with electronic items inside. The driver, a Panamanian citizen, was approached by the inspectors, who, upon identifying themselves, proceeded to apply Article 1285, regarding the verification of vehicles within the customs territory. During a detailed inspection, inspectors found 23 boxes containing mobile devices. Upon the official count, it was determined that they were transporting: 349 cell phones and 20 tablets. The driver did not present documents that accredited the legal possession or origin of the merchandise within the Panamanian customs territory, so the vehicle and all the merchandise were transferred for the corresponding procedures, in addition to issuing a citation to the citizen so that he complies with the established administrative process.
