Panama to Return to PISA in 2029

Panama will return to participate in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2029, the Ministry of Education (Meduca) reported. According to Meduca, the decision to return to the test is part of a responsible and planned strategy, aligned with the structural advances being implemented in the education system. "By then, we will be in an intermediate phase of the curriculum redesign and we can begin to measure the impact of its implementation, as well as the strengthening of teacher competencies through continuous training processes and the execution of programs such as Entre Pares and others, aimed at effectively integrating technological tools into the teaching-learning process," the institution states. Meduca highlights that, rather than an immediate participation, Panama is betting on presenting itself in a scenario where the changes applied are reflected in concrete, measurable, and sustainable results. It emphasizes that the return in 2029 will allow for a more precise evaluation of the impact of these strategies, focused on raising the quality of education, strengthening students' skills, and ensuring relevant training in the face of current challenges.
