President Mulino met with French deputies to reiterate his position regarding Panama's inclusion on the European Union's tax blacklist. Mulino expressed his firm conviction that it is unfair for the country to continue being categorized this way, considering it a discriminatory measure.
During the meeting, Mulino emphasized that Panama has made significant efforts to comply with international standards on transparency and fighting tax fraud. Despite this, the European Union has kept Panama on its tax list, which has raised concerns in the Panamanian government.
The president highlighted that Panama is committed to continuing to collaborate with other countries to strengthen its financial system and ensure transparency in its operations. He also underscored the importance of not stigmatizing Panama for decisions made in the past, urging the European Union to reconsider its position.
In this regard, Mulino reaffirmed his opposition to discriminatory lists that affect the country's reputation and hinder its economic development. The president pointed out that Panama will continue to work to demonstrate its commitment to international standards and advocate for fair treatment from the European Union and other international organizations.
