The Minister of Education of Panama, Molinar, stated that he is not afraid of the evaluation of the PISA test, as he believes the country will achieve results similar to previous years. These statements came after criticisms received regarding the Ministry of Education's purchase of laptops and the exclusion of certain students from the upcoming PISA test.
According to Molinar, the students not included in the international PISA assessment were not in a position to take the test, as they did not meet the necessary criteria. The minister assured that the exclusion was due to a matter of transparency and quality of results, and pointed out that efforts are being made to improve participation in future evaluations.
Regarding the acquisition of laptops, Molinar defended the purchase by arguing that it was a necessity to ensure educational continuity during the pandemic. He highlighted that these devices have been provided to students to facilitate their distance learning and reduce the digital divide in the country.
In response to the criticisms and questions received, Molinar reiterated his confidence that Panama would be able to maintain its level in the PISA test and continue working on improving the education system.
