The Ministry of Environment of Panama has decided to temporarily suspend the construction activities of a hotel project in La Amapola, located in El Valle de Antón. The measure was taken due to the detection of the erection of cabins and earth movement with heavy machinery, without the approval of an Environmental Impact Study.
According to official information, the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Drug-Related Crimes in Colón is also involved in this case. Investigations are being carried out to determine if there are additional irregularities related to this project in La Amapola.
The intervention of the authorities comes amid concerns about possible negative environmental impacts in the region. Until the situation is clarified and the relevant legal requirements are met, the suspension of construction activities will remain in effect.
