The independent deputy and member of the Budget Commission of the National Assembly, Besterai Richards, during his participation in the program Cuarto Poder, emphasized that the "Axis of Evil" cannot continue to impose itself, as it is the citizen who should have the decision-making power in such matters.
During a debate in the mentioned commission, strong discussions were observed among the members of several benches and those of the independent group Vamos, even resorting to obscene language. Richards explained that the independent bench proposed to vote for the first debate, but ultimately it was the official bench with the support of the political party benches that prevailed.
The term "Axis of Evil" is used by the United States to refer to countries accused of supporting terrorism, such as Syria, Iran, and North Korea. Richards expressed his discontent by labeling his fellow commissioners who voted in favor of the first debate of the General State Budget bill for the fiscal period 2025 as part of that Axis.
The deputy pointed out that the deputies of the Democratic Change (CD), Panameñista, and Democratic Revolutionary (PRD) parties supported the bill by placing themselves under the banner of the political collective Realizando Metas (RM). In this regard, Richards posed the following question: "Who aligned with the Axis of Evil is the million-dollar question?"
