Acquittal of Former Ministers in the PAN-Helicopter Case

The First Liquidating Court of Criminal Cases in Panama acquitted 14 people, including five former ministers, in the case known as PAN-helicopter, related to crimes against public administration.


Acquittal of Former Ministers in the PAN-Helicopter Case

The First Liquidator Court of Criminal Causes of Panama issued ordinary edict no. 1401 informing about the acquittal sentence no. 18 in favor of 14 people in the case known as PAN-helicopter, related to the crime against public administration. Among those acquitted are former ministers such as Guillermo Ferrufino, Javier Díaz, Oscar Osorio, Emilio Kieswetter, and Franklin Vergara of Health. The sentence ordered the return of B/. 500,000 deposited by one of the accused and rejected the nullity incidents and prescription incidents presented by the defendants' defense.

On the other hand, the First Liquidator Judge of Criminal Causes of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama declared seven people guilty, including former deputy Mario Miller, for using the Assembly's payroll to commit fraud, through sentence 105 of October 17, 2024. In addition, former PAN director Giacomo Tambureli was acquitted. The presiding judge, Águeda Rentería Sánchez, ordered the lifting of precautionary measures against the accused and the cancellation of the release bail.
