At the Ironman in Cozumel, 2 thousand triathletes from 81 countries participated. Among the women, the best Panamanian was Vanessa Vicuña with a time of 12 hours and 15 minutes. The Panamanian representation included Ronan Pavoni, the most experienced triathlete and coach, who was the best-ranked Panamanian, finishing in 14th place with a time of 9 hours and 49 minutes. The second-best Panamanian was Eddie Fischer, who finished in 9 hours and 49 minutes, placing 34th in his age group (35-39 years). In the same category, Billy Gordon (10 hours and 27 minutes) and Tony Caballero (11 hours and 8 minutes) also competed. A total of 30 slots were allocated for women and 70 for men.
