Panama was close to winning the gold medal in men's futsal at the XX Bolivarian Sports Games, held in the Peruvian cities of Ayacucho and Lima. However, in a dramatic final, the Panamanian team had to settle for silver after losing 5-3 on penalties to Paraguay in the final. The national team dominated the first half of the match with a 2-0 lead. Panama's goals came from Alfonso Maquensi in the 7th minute and Ángel Sánchez shortly after. However, coached by Alex del Rosario, the team could not maintain the lead in the second half, and the Paraguayans managed to equalize and force the game into overtime. The South American goals were scored by Diego Poggi and Roberto Gamarra in the 24th minute. In the two five-minute overtimes, Panama could not score the goal that would have won them the gold medal in this football discipline. The final podium was completed by Paraguay with gold, Panama with the silver medal, and the Colombian team took the bronze medal by defeating Venezuela 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw. With this participation, Panama matches its best performance at the Bolivarian Games, repeating the silver medal achieved in 2024.
