Panama secured 15 Olympic wrestling spots for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The spots were won at the qualifying tournament for the second Olympic event, held in Panama over the weekend, where 225 athletes from the American continent competed. In the female category, Panama secured spots in the 50, 53, 57, 62, and 75 kg weight classes. In the male category, Greco-Roman style, the Panamanian delegation won spots in the 60, 67, 87, and 97 kg categories, while in freestyle, they secured places in the 57, 65, 74, 86, 97, and 125 kg classes. Individually, the participation of athletes Yahaira Ibarra and Yusneiry Agrazal stands out, who won bronze medals in the 62 kg and 53 kg categories, respectively. Guillermo Mojica, from the Panamanian Federation of Olympic Wrestling, reported that in January, the National Championship will be held in Panama City, from which the 15 selected athletes who will represent Panama in the Central American and Caribbean Games will emerge. Mojica added that the athletes selected for the Central American and Caribbean Games will undergo training in Dagestan, Russia. “The 15 selected athletes will travel with coach Catriel Muriel to Russia, where they will train and hold a training camp with the European country's national team,” Mojica detailed.
