The semifinals of the 2026 National Junior Baseball Championship begin. The semifinal series are played in a best-of-seven format. In one semifinal matchup, Los Santos will face Coclé. Metro and Panamá Oeste will play the other series, starting today at the Mariano Rivera Stadium at 7:00 PM. Panamá Oeste is one of the tournament's favorites, having defeated Herrera 4-1 in their round. Meanwhile, Metro defeated Potros del Este 4-2, and Coclé swept Occidente 4-0. Coclé and Chiriquí will face off tonight at 7:00 PM at the Remón Cantera Stadium in Aguadulce. These two teams met in last year's final, where Coclé achieved back-to-back championships. In the 'Round of Eight Teams', Coclé led the offensive with a collective batting average of .385, the highest of the second phase, followed by the Chiriquí team, which batted .268. Regarding pitching, Oeste finished with an ERA of 1.76 and Metro with 2.60, according to Fedebeis statistics. In the reinforcement round, Chiriquí had the luck to get the first pick and chose the Herrera pitcher, Manuel Bustavino. In terms of the pitching staff, the Coclé arms ended the 'Round of Eight Teams' with a team ERA of 1.44.
