Panama Consolidates Its Position as a Football Power

The great work being done by the Panamanian Football Federation (FPF) and its national teams is consolidating Panama as an emerging football power in Central America. They are not only shining with great performances on the field, which are earning them a return to major tournaments, but also due to the efforts of its federation. A hard-working effort that was reflected at the beginning of February when the FPF presented the institutional project of the High Performance Center (CAR) to members of the Member Associations Sub-Division (America). And most importantly: after missing the 2022 edition in Qatar, it will compete in the FIFA World Cup 2026, where it is in Group L with Croatia, Ghana, and England. Panama will compete for the fifth time after securing their place by overcoming the CONCACAF qualifying stage. This initiative, which is strategic to continue the magnificent development of Panamanian football, has the support of the FIFA Forward program. There are many evidences that confirm that Panamanian football is consolidating in Central America and its teams are increasingly common in FIFA competitions. The women's team made its debut in a FIFA Women's World Cup at the last edition in Australia and New Zealand in 2023, achieving a more than dignified performance and leaving for posterity the great goal by Marta Cox against France. Additionally, the men's team has been settled in the top 50 of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's World Ranking since 2023, and close to the top 30 in recent months.
