After two games in the US, the Panama Baseball Team traveled to Puerto Rico for the World Baseball Classic group stage. The team held a practice and is preparing for its debut match against Cuba. After two preparation games in the United States, the Panama Baseball Team traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico, the venue for its group in the World Baseball Classic, which starts tomorrow, Friday. The Panamanian team arrived in San Juan at night coming from Tampa, Florida, where the isthmian team played on Tuesday against the New York Yankees and on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers. According to the schedule, for today Thursday, the Panamanian team has a practice scheduled for midday at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan. Panama will debut tomorrow in the World Baseball Classic when it faces Cuba at 11 in the morning (Panama time) in a corresponding to group A of this competition, in which Puerto Rico, Canada, and Colombia will also play. Yesterday, before traveling from the United States to Puerto Rico, Panama lost 2-1 to the Detroit Tigers. Nevertheless, José Mayorga, the technical director of the Panama National Team, highlighted that against the Tigers, the team looked better both in defense and in pitching. "I think it's positive, the defense was spectacular and the pitching was great doing its job, limiting the Tigers to 3 hits," Mayorga highlighted after the game against the Tigers, which was played at the Publix Field at Marchand Stadium, in the city of Lakeland, Florida. The Tigers scored a run in the second and the other in the third inning, while Panama scored its run in the fourth inning.
