Three sporting legends from the Coclé province who left their mark on national baseball will be honored at the 57th National Youth Baseball Championship 'Caja de Ahorros Cup', which will kick off on January 3. A press release from the Panamanian Baseball Federation (Fedebeis) announced that the 2026 National Youth Baseball Championship will be dedicated to the star 'Golden Lefty' Darío Agrazal, catcher David Rivas, and infielder Benjamin 'Ben' Salamin. 'It is a great honor for our Federation to select three legends of national baseball, such as Darío Agrazal, David Rivas, and Benjamin Salamin, as our honorees for the 2026 opening of the youth national season,' highlighted Jaime Robinson, president of Fedebeis. The 2026 National Youth Baseball Championship begins on January 3 with the opening match between Colón and Coclé, to be played at the José Antonio Remón Cantera stadium in the city of Aguadulce, starting at 7:00 p.m., with an opening ceremony at 5:00 p.m. featuring a musical and cultural act. Five other matches make up the opening day's schedule, where Darién will face Panamá Este, Herrera against Los Santos, Chiriquí against Veraguas, Occidente against Bocas del Toro, and Metro against Oeste, all starting at 7:00 p.m.
