Two infant deaths, one of a two-year-old girl and another of a one-year-old boy, were reported yesterday in Panama under different circumstances, bringing grief and sorrow to their families. In the first case, the two-year-old girl died from choking on a candy. Her father urgently took her to the Blas Gómez Chetro polyclinic in Arraiján, but unfortunately, the on-duty doctor determined that she had no vital signs. The second incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. at a house in sector #2 of Don Bosco, Veranillo, San Miguelito. A one-year-old boy apparently drowned after falling into a container of water in the bathroom of his home. His mother, realizing what had happened, pulled him out of the container and tried to resuscitate him, but was unsuccessful. She then took him to the Veranillo health center. The Public Ministry has initiated a summary investigation to clarify the facts.
