Panama - The Public Ministry has initiated an investigation into the death of a woman in a state of pregnancy, which occurred in the emergency room of the 'Dr. Blas Gómez Chetro' polyclinic of the Social Security Fund (CSS) in Arraiján, West Panama province. The woman had arrived at this health facility on her own, complaining of body pains. Minutes later, her health condition deteriorated suddenly, which activated medical protocols, but unfortunately she died in the emergency area. Officials from the Public Ministry conducted interviews with on-duty doctors in order to establish a line of investigation and find out where the victim lived, as well as the precise circumstances surrounding her death. This event caused shock among the patients who were in the polyclinic, while the authorities continue with the proceedings to clarify what happened and determine if there was medical liability in the case.
