In Panama, the Arraiján district administration announced it will take legal action against those blocking access to Vista Alegre beach. After a fence that obstructed passage was removed, officials said they will clear rocks from the dirt road to restore free access.
"As a municipal administration, we will not allow any individual, arbitrarily or in bad faith, to obstruct spaces that belong to everyone," the mayor’s statement reads.
The blockage, described as an "unauthorized and malicious intervention," deprives the community of free use of the public beach.
Since the beginning of the year, Mayor Stefany Peñalba has been recovering public spaces across the district, removing commercial premises.
Authorities promise the area will remain free, accessible and protected for public enjoyment after the rocks are removed.
