Panamanian Citizen Arrested for Child Exploitation in Argentina

Within the framework of the International Operation Córdoba, aimed at combating child sexual exploitation, the National Police of Panama and the Public Ministry conducted raids and searches in the district of Arraiján. These operations culminated in the apprehension of a Panamanian citizen for the alleged commission of crimes including corruption of minors, commercial sexual exploitation, and other related offenses, against at least seven minor victims located in Argentina. The investigation began in January 2025 when Panamanian authorities received information from their counterparts in Argentina, alerting them to the possible possession of child sexual abuse material in Panama, linked to two ongoing investigations in Argentine territory. The investigation established that the minors were initially contacted through a user on the social media Instagram and subsequently via the WhatsApp application, using a phone line registered in Panama. Technological equipment and other evidence were seized during the operation. This action was carried out by specialized cybercrime units of the DIJ, intelligence units of the DNIP, forensic experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, and with the support of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
