Panamanians Rob and Shoot Costa Ricans During False Vehicle Sale

In Panama, three Panamanian nationals robbed and shot one of two Costa Rican citizens who had contacted them through a digital platform for the alleged sale of a vehicle. The advertisement posted by the nationals offered a pickup truck for sale for $9,000. The two Costa Ricans arrived in Panama via Tocumen International Airport, where they rented a car from a car rental agency located at the terminal. Subsequently, the foreigners contacted the supposed sellers, who summoned them to the El Llano sector, Arraiján district, in West Panama province. At the location, following a dispute, one of the supposed sellers drew a firearm and shot one of the Costa Ricans, injuring him. Additionally, they stripped them of their money. The assailants fled and hid inside a foreign residence, but were reported by citizens and subsequently arrested by units of the National Police. The injured Costa Rican citizen was transferred to a medical center in the Arraiján district to receive medical attention.
