A double murder followed by a suicide occurred in the Playita de Bique area of Arraiján district. A 36-year-old man shot and killed his 30-year-old partner before turning the gun on himself. The tragedy took place in the morning on Mother's Day. According to Commissioner Giuder Gómez of the Arraiján police zone, after paramedics from the Single Emergency Management System (SUME) 911 checked the vital signs of both individuals, it was confirmed that both bodies had bullet wounds to the head. The couple had four children, who were not in the home at the time of the incident. Gómez added that neighbors of the victims attempted to assist them, which required forcing open the doors of the house. Neighbors and family members of the couple refused to comment on the incident, claiming they knew nothing. Minutes before the tragedy, the couple had a heated argument, after which gunshots were heard.
