Panamanian President Inaugurates New Homes for Vulnerable Children

On Friday, the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, accompanied by the First Lady, Maricel Cohen de Mulino, their daughters Monique and Alexandra, and Sister Daisy Suyapa Cruz, director of the Hogar San José de Malambo, inaugurated four remodeled houses at the Hogar San José de Malambo, located in Arraiján, West Panama.

Thanks to the support of 150 donor companies, 15 architects, and 40 volunteers, a total of 60 vulnerable girls and boys now have a more dignified and loving home. The new houses, named Virgin of Fatima, Virgin of Lourdes, Divine Child, and Powerful Virgin, will provide protection, food, love, and values formation to these children.

Additionally, the renovated San José de Malambo chapel was inaugurated.

"This is what you have done here," expressed President Mulino, who said he was impressed by the result achieved through the shared effort of the presidential family and selfless citizens, accomplished without the need for public money.

In turn, the First Lady stated that this is a space "to heal, to give thanks, to breathe."

"They have worked with dedication, with sensitivity, and with the deep conviction that every child deserves to live in a space that reminds them of their worth," indicated Cohen de Mulino. "A place where our girls and boys can find calm when something hurts them, and joy when they feel accompanied."

Meanwhile, Cohen de Mulino made known to those present that the renovation of San José de Malambo has a very special meaning for her, because it bears the seal of her daughters Monique and Alexandra, as well as her daughter-in-law, Katherine.

To carry out this project, B/.331,000 was raised from 150 donor companies, and an additional B/.79,200 during the Charity Gala "Illuminating Childhood," organized by the First Lady's Office.

This is one of the projects promoted by the office led by Maricel Cohen de Mulino, within the program "Spaces that Hug."
