Panama. The driver of a stolen vehicle transporting a body was captured in the early hours of Monday in the district of Arraiján, after evading a National Police (PN) checkpoint. According to Commissioner Carlos Ortiz, the car was stolen at gunpoint from a rideshare driver in the area of Fuente del Chase, district of La Chorrera. Subsequently, the vehicle's owner was abandoned in the Veracruz district, from where he managed to contact authorities and report the theft. Using surveillance cameras, the car was located on the Arraiján-La Chorrera highway at the height of Bique, where a police chase began. In an attempt to escape, the criminal changed his route towards Vista Alegre, evading another checkpoint after ramming officers and pointing a firearm at them, but he turned into a dead end where he was captured. Inside the vehicle, officers found a firearm and the accomplice of the assailant with no vital signs in the front passenger seat, as well as the victim's documents, for which they proceeded to notify the Public Ministry.
