Destruction of a monument dedicated to Chinese cultural heritage. There are many questions arising from the shameful absurdity of the destruction of a deserved monument to the Chinese community in Panama. The incident occurred at night, with the participation of police with covered faces and permits from other 'authorities' for the circulation of equipment and personnel whose affiliation with the state or being hired is still unknown, all of which must be clarified and verified by the mayor of Arraiján, who must also demonstrate how she could authorize such stupidity, especially when there were offers to restore the structures of said monument. The rejection of such barbarism is not only from the 300,000 Chinese and their dependents but from the entire Panamanian people who coexist and share with them this small-great country known as Panama, whose generations have endured the abuses of foreign territorial occupation without paying a dollar, sanctions, and the infamous and criminal US invasion of 1989. The reconstruction of this monument, in the same place, should not be paid for by the Panamanian people through any ministry, but by the official who ordered its destruction, and this must be demanded from the necessary authorities. Furthermore, the Panamanian state must apologize to the Chinese people and their descendants, who today are Panamanians or residents of Panama. Only then will history do justice. Such abuses and crimes must be punished as such, to teach law-breaking officials that they must pay for the country for the damage they cause with their demonstrated incompetence or ignorance, while holding paid public positions for which they lack the necessary capacity or knowledge. Likewise, due to her demonstrated incompetence and ignorance, that official must be barred from holding any other public office.
