Solar Panels Bring Electricity to Hard-to-Reach Areas in Capira

Families from the Los Chorros community, in the Cirí de Los Sotos district of Capira, have begun receiving solar panels as an alternative to access electricity in one of the most hard-to-reach areas of West Panama. This initiative is driven by the Government of West Panama, led by Governor Marilyn Vallarino, whose team traveled to the area to deliver the systems to homes that have lacked stable electricity service for years. According to the entity, the installation of these panels will improve the living conditions of the families, providing lighting, greater security at night, and better opportunities for domestic and community development. In areas like Los Chorros, where extending electrical grids is complex and costly, solar energy becomes a viable option to reduce the gap in basic services. Authorities stated that this initiative is part of a plan to serve historically disadvantaged communities and promote sustainable solutions in rural areas of West Panama. With the delivery of the equipment, the Government seeks to advance towards a province with greater equity, integrating remote populations into better conditions of well-being and progress.
