The presidents of the 'Calle Arriba' and 'Calle Abajo' tunas from Capira reached an agreement during a meeting with the mayor of this district, Ket Yau Martínez. According to a post published on the Instagram page of the Capira Municipality, the decision was made 'with the aim of promoting healthy coexistence and harmony during the carnival festivities'. The controversial song performed by the 'Calle Abajo' tuna from Capira, which makes reference to a traditional music singer named 'Alejandro', will not be sung during the carnival celebration. The controversy over this song arose due to the direct reference to a traffic accident that occurred in 2025, in which 'Las Estrellas del Ritmo' band singer Alejandro Torres was involved, and in which three people died. Alejandro Torres is a close relative of Albanis Briceida Torres Asprilla, the queen of 'Calle Arriba' of Capira for 2026. The song titled 'La mona del arca' was also removed from the Instagram page of 'Calle Abajo' of Capira. In addition, the municipality reiterates its commitment to 'accompany, supervise, and support compliance with what was agreed'. The post adds that the agreement is aimed at guaranteeing mutual respect and the proper development of the activities, prioritizing the collective interest, healthy coexistence, and the responsible enjoyment of the festivities by the community.
