Vandalism at Chame school leads to class suspension

Classes at the Harmodio Arias Madrid school, located in Chame, were suspended this Monday after the educational center was the victim of vandalism and theft over the weekend. The criminals damaged the electrical supply, stole materials and equipment, including computers, and took part of the food from the school cafeteria. In addition, they forced locks and entered the offices of the day and night sections' director in search of money and valuables. The copying center and several classrooms also suffered disorder and damage. The educational community had previously requested the Ministry of Education to appoint guards to reinforce the school's security. The school authorities have filed the corresponding complaint and are awaiting the arrival of agents from the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) to gather information and evidence. The educational community expresses its concern, as this is not the first time this type of incident has occurred. Some neighbors have reported the existence of a gang of criminals who also commit robberies in homes in the area, so the National Police is being asked to increase security patrols.
