Panamanian authorities inspect water trucks and food stalls at carnival venues to ensure safety and water quality for attendees.

Water and Safety Inspections for Panama's Carnival

Fifty-three water tank trucks used to transport water to various carnival event sites have been inspected by personnel from the Ministry of Environment (MiAmbiente) and the Ministry of Health (MINSA). According to MINSA records, 249,900 gallons of water extracted from authorized water sources have been chlorinated. This figure corresponds to the first two days of the carnival. Jorge Melo, regional director of MINSA, indicated that the inspected tank trucks must display a sticker placed by officials of this institution. The largest number of tank trucks is concentrated at the Sajalices river beach in the district of Chame, as this is the only authorized point for the districts of La Chorrera, Arraiján, and Capira. In the districts of San Carlos, Capira, and La Chorrera, 97 temporary food stalls have been inspected, where three questionable health permits were detected. Meanwhile, the Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama reported on the verification of fire extinguishers and gas installations. The operation was carried out at the sites where the traditional 'culecos' are held in the districts of Capira, La Chorrera, and San Carlos.
