In ten months, Acodeco in Bocas del Toro conducted 1,412 inspections, discovering over 17,000 expired products, items without expiration dates or price tags, and imposing fines totaling nearly 20,000 balboas.


Acodeco Detects Over 17,000 Expired Products in Bocas del Toro

In the province of Bocas del Toro, over 17,000 expired products were detected in ten months. The Consumer Protection and Competition Defense Authority (Acodeco) carried out 1,412 inspections in the region from January to October. In addition to expired products, 121 food items without an expiration date and 322 products without visible prices were found. As a result, fines totaling B/.19,305.00 were imposed. Recently, Acodeco established its new regional office at the Changuinola International Airport, resuming service to consumers and economic agents. Regional Administrator Rosalba De León called on the public to actively report any irregularities they detect in commercial establishments through the Sindi system, WhatsApp, Telegram, or the institution's social media accounts.
