People are asking questions, commenting, and looking at the ground with distrust. The tremor woke many people and left a nervous atmosphere. After the first shake, two more aftershocks followed, one at 4:21 a.m. and another around 8:00 a.m. All of them had a depth greater than 5 kilometers, always in the border area with Costa Rica. In several points of Bocas del Toro, Chiriquí, and the Ngäbe Buglé comarca, the movement was felt clearly: strong for some, fast for others, but enough to raise the alarm. Immediately, the Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama, together with the National Civil Protection System, went out to patrol the streets and sensitive points of Changuinola. One of the places inspected was the Dr. Raúl Dávila Mena Hospital, where structural assessments were made. The concern in the community is real. For now, everything is under observation, and it is expected that official information will be expanded throughout the morning.
So far, no damage or impacts have been reported. Authorities confirmed that there are no reports of injuries or compromised structures, but monitoring continues. Around 4:06 a.m., the first seismic movement was felt in the border region between Panama and Costa Rica, with its epicenter 13 kilometers northwest of Changuinola, in Bocas del Toro. This was confirmed by the Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama.
