'During the operation, a reconnaissance tour of the area was conducted, which allowed for the identification of a clandestine camp used for illegal mineral extraction,' it details. These actions are part of the #PlanFirmeza, a comprehensive strategy aimed at strengthening security, public order, and the defense of natural resources in areas under the responsibility of the National Border Service. According to Senafront, the operation was executed by units from the 3rd Brigade of East Panama (BRIPE), in coordination with the Motorized Immediate Reaction Group (GRIM) and the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, as part of the institution's efforts to combat environmental crimes and illicit activities affecting the country's natural resources. Units of the National Border Service located and dismantled a camp allegedly dedicated to illegal mining in the Superación Campesina sector, Chepo district, Senafront reported. Additionally, five gold pans, picks, hoes, pots, and other implements commonly used in such illicit activities were seized at the location.
