Within the framework of 'Fortaleza' operation, units of the National Border Service seized 18 boxes containing 900 packages of alleged smuggled strawberries. The shipment was being transported in a pick-up truck by a 32-year-old citizen who attempted to evade the San Isidro checkpoint in the province of Chiriquí. The citizen and the merchandise were placed at the disposal of the Customs Prevention and Enforcement Directorate (DPFA), reported Sub-Commissioner José Camargo, Executive of the Western Fourth Brigade. Sub-Commissioner emphasized that the institution will continue to carry out operational actions to combat cross-border crimes, which negatively impacts the national producer's economy.
