The Government of Panama has taken measures to protect childhood and adolescence, as well as vulnerable persons under state guardianship, ensuring them with dignified conditions. On Wednesday, February 19, the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) carried out the transfer of 10 young men with disabilities from the Comprehensive Care Center (CAI) in Tocumen to the María Auxiliadora Home, in the city of Chitré, Herrera province. This transfer was carried out in accordance with a protection measure issued by the Attorney General of the Nation, Luis Carlos Gómez. The central objective of this action is to guarantee the physical integrity and well-being of citizens who have grown up under the guardianship and care of the Panamanian state. The operation required coordination with the National Secretariat for Childhood, Adolescence and Family (Senniaf). The head of the department, Minister Beatriz Carles de Arango, personally traveled to the Azuero region on February 17 to personally verify the facilities and the critical needs of the mobilized population. As part of a comprehensive care strategy, the minister achieved immediate articulation with the Ministry of Health (Minsa). Medical specialists conducted individual assessments of each of the young people to ensure that the change of environment would not affect their clinical or emotional stability. Mides clarified that this action is temporary.
