Authorities clear roads after landslides in Colón

The authorities of the Technical Committee, composed of the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) and security agencies, managed to clear the landslides that had left dozens of families isolated in the Salamanca district, on the Transistmic Highway in Colón.

Recent rains had cut off communities such as Boquerón Arriba, Boquerón Abajo, and Santa Librada, leaving people in constant concern as they were unable to leave or enter.

The work allowed for the clearing of at least five critical points where landslides were impeding free vehicular transit.

In total, more than 30 families were left without communication for several hours due to the landslides.

By this Sunday, access and mobility on this internal road had already been restored, while security agencies remain vigilant as rain is still reported in several sectors of the region.
