So far this year, more than 90 people have died due to the social situation on the Atlantic Coast. Franklin Grajales Montenegro, 39, was murdered on the night of Sunday, November 30, in the community of Buenaventura, belonging to the Portobelo district, in the Costa Arriba area of the Colón province. In this attack, four other people were injured, including a 5-year-old child and a 16-year-old teenager. The attack was recorded at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, on the main road where a tavern and grill operates, where several people were also injured in an attack. The incident occurred when individuals came out of a wooded area in front of this tavern-grill, approached the business, and started shooting, hitting Grajales, who was left lying on the floor with no vital signs. In this surprise attack, Celestino García, 52, was wounded by gunshot wounds in his right and left thigh; a 16-year-old teenager with wounds on his left hand, index, and ring finger, as well as a graze on his back. Even a 5-year-old child was hit, with a graze on his right cheek and on the side of his abdomen. Likewise, Lucia Grajales, 20, was hit in the right thigh, and Deysi Domínguez, 31, suffered a bullet wound in her right leg. After the violent incident, the two gunmen left the scene in an unknown direction. National Police agents went to the scene, where they observed the deceased person on the floor and the injured being transferred to the emergency room of the Portobelo Health Center, and from there to the Dr. Manuel Amador Guerrero Hospital in the city of Colón. Meanwhile, Montenegro's body was taken to the city of Colón's judicial morgue for an autopsy. The investigative process for this violent act has begun.
