At least two ships ran aground in the province of Colón due to the bad weather affecting the region. Additionally, there have been reports of roof damage, river flooding, and strong winds in coastal populations.
One of the vessels that ran aground was identified as Ms. Robin, which was dragged by strong waves onto a seawall in the city of Colón. The second ship is a bulk carrier with 10 crew members, which ran aground on the beaches of the María Chiquita corregimiento, also in the Colón district.
Coordination is underway with the Panama Maritime Authority and the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) to respond to both incidents caused by the adverse weather on the Atlantic coast.
From the Donoso district, it is reported that the Río Indio is experiencing rising waters, accompanied by strong winds that have limited water traffic. There have also been reports of roof damage in areas such as Guayabalito.
Similarly, water has entered the populations of the Santa Isabel district in the Upper Coast of the Colón province, increasing the alert for possible flooding.
