Provisional detention was the precautionary measure applied to a 24-year-old young man linked to a homicide case that occurred in mid-December in the city of Colón, an incident that once again shakes the province.

The crime was recorded on December 15, 2025, on Third Street in the Barrio Norte district, where a person lost their life during a violent episode that is still under investigation by the authorities.

The decision was made by Ilse Chu de Moreno, a guarantees judge in Colón, who ordered the provisional detention for the alleged aggravated homicide, considering that there are real procedural risks.

Among the risks cited are the possible destruction of evidence, the defendant's failure to appear, and the danger to the community. These factors weighed in favor of the accused remaining in custody while the investigation progresses.

During the hearing, the apprehension was legalized, and the formulation of charges, presented by the Homicide Prosecutor, Maikol Brown, was allowed to proceed.

The defense was handled by public defender María Espada.

This case adds to an alarming reality: more than 100 people have been killed in the country this year, leaving grief, pain, and broken families, as violence continues to mark the streets.
