Colón Councilors Demand Explanations Over Old Hospital

City councilors of Colón demand explanations about the future of the old hospital. Carlos Daley, representative of the Cativá district, stated that citizens want to know what the future of these facilities will be, for what services they could be used, and what benefits they will offer the population. Daley hinted that there are voices claiming the place is to be sold, "and we are not going to allow that." He pointed out that the current structure could be used as an alternative due to the growing population. Therefore, he suggested a hospital for cancer patients, a maternal-infant unit, a dialysis room, and others. Meanwhile, Nicolás Hurtado, interim director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), denied the false information related to the alleged sale of the old hospital. "I believe that news is false, I believe it is fake news," said Hurtado. He indicated that in due course the future of these facilities will be announced, always with the route that the structure itself will be to help and serve the people of Colón. At the same time, he clarified that the hospital or the area will not be sold because it belongs to the CSS, and therefore to the people.
