Aldair Corpas, a 24-year-old from Panama, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder of Leonardo Medina. The violent incident occurred in early 2022 in the Barrio Norte area of the city of Colón. In the early morning hours of February 7, the convicted man, accompanied by another person with a firearm, intercepted the victim, who was walking on Calle 5, Avenida Herrera at the time, and shot him multiple times, causing his death. During the oral trial, the case theory, the presentation of evidence, and closing arguments were presented, leading to the man's guilty verdict. He was also given an accessory penalty of a prohibition on carrying firearms for the same period as the main sentence, once it is served. The sentence was handed down by a jury of conscience, which concluded the man's guilt in the aggravated homicide offense. This case was handled by officials from the Specialized Homicide and Femicide Section of the Colón and Guna Yala Regional Prosecutor's Office. "There were no traces of the trunk or head." For this same case, in January 2025, 25-year-old Álvaro De Jesús Linero was also sentenced to 25 years in prison.
