A large-scale garbage cleanup operation "Christmas 025" has been launched in Colón. Authorities and residents are uniting to clean the streets for the holidays and are calling on everyone to maintain cleanliness.

Colón shakes off the trash before Christmas

Work has already begun in Colón and will continue in the coming days, with new scheduled drives to ensure that communities receive Christmas with cleaner streets and a more dignified environment.

The message in Colón is clear: cleanliness is everyone's task, and when the community and authorities push together, the neighborhood shows it. Colón does not want to be seen dirty in December.

From early in the morning, trucks, shovels, and ordinary people have taken over various points in the district as part of a special operation to tackle the garbage problem that has hit the neighborhoods for years.

The waste collection company Aguaseo S.A. is keeping the "Christmas 025" plan in motion, an intensive drive that aims to rescue critical points where garbage accumulates uncontrollably, while the Colón Municipality kicked off community cleaning work starting with the Cristóbal Este district.

Crews have been working hard in the city center, and the operation will continue along the Transistmic Highway and other sectors where waste has become part of the landscape. On-site, there are operational personnel, dump trucks, an excavator, and heavy equipment, while garbage trucks continue to follow their normal routes.

At the same time, the authorities are making a clear and direct call: not to throw garbage in vacant lots, gutters, medians, parks, or streets, because the effort is useless if the bad habit continues.

Meanwhile, the Municipality, along with community leaders, is promoting cleaning campaigns in areas such as Villa del Caribe, where neighbors and authorities have come together to remove bulky waste, clean ditches, and clear the roads.

This initiative, backed by community leader Johnny Valencia, is not limited to a single day.
