Yeileen Acosta was crowned as the new queen of the Colón Carnival 'Alegoría 2026' at a gala held at the Center for Art and Culture (CACCO). The event brought together nine participants who competed for the title of the festival's queen. The contest, which evaluated the contestants in four categories (initial presentation, swimsuit, costume, and gala dress), concluded with a question-and-answer round that determined the Top 5. Following the jury's deliberation, the verdict was announced, forming the new royal court: Queen of the Carnival 'Alegoría 2026' is Yeileen Acosta; first princess is Meybel Catuy; second princess is Gloryelis Garibaldi. Tayona Jiménez was named as the culture ambassador, while Paola Ceballos became the traditions ambassador.
In turn, Roberto Edwars, president of the carnival, took the opportunity to announce the official venue for the festivities; the 'Alegoría 2026' carnival will take place on Miguel Ahmad Waked Avenue, from the red bridge to entrance number five of the Colón Free Zone. The 'Alegoría' Carnival has an institutional validity of three years (2025-2027), after being officially sworn in by Colón's governor, Julio Hernández.
With the royal court now established, Colón prepares for a carnival edition that promises to be a true 'Alegoría' of color, music, tradition, and joy, led by Queen Yeileen Acosta and her team. 'I promise to lead these celebrations with deep dedication to our culture and with the utmost respect for our roots and our people,' she declared, setting the tone for her reign. Upon receiving the crown, the new sovereign, Yeileen Acosta, addressed the community with a message of commitment.
